It doesn’t matter really. I use a 2h on my twink since I just RS, WC and run away if they get too close. That wasy a 2h does much more dmg than 2 1h:s (I’m also a lvl 19 twink so I can’t DW yet )-Talnivarr EU:

Urthak – 70 Rogue
Tyrana – 71 MageMy experience is very limited, but what I can say is get both if at all possible. I find 2H weapons very useful in WSG, where damage per hit is better than damage per second because the flag carrier is only around you long enough to get in a Raptor Strike and Wing Clip, whereas I find dualing more useful when grinding, because I can get more agility or AP to buff my ranged attacks from two 1H than from a 2H weapon. But if you had to pick between one or the other, I’d go with the Taskmaster Axe. I got ALOT of use from mine.Although I know no one can tell me how to play, I was wondering which people would reccomend. I currently have a taskmaster axe and cant wait to use it at lvl 18. I’ve also been running VC in hopes of getting cruel barb (maybe even two). So far I was going to dual wield a cruel barb and a blackwater cutlass to start. Do you think this is a good idea or should I just stick with the two-handers for now? Looking for opinions and personal experiece, not or someone to tell me how to play.-Shinsen – Sanguinans – Gurubashi

Theo, I think in a previous life you were named Occam, William of Occam. And you owned a razor … or something!
Hips, if you wanna BG, you gotta forego some of the agi you’ve probably built up to level with and get some stam/hps!
Think about it. PVE the mobs are dumb and are taunted by your pet. You don’t need much in the way of HPs – you need dps to put the targets down faster.
In BG you must be able to survive a warrior’s charge, a rogue’s stun lock opening, a mage’s a warlock’s soulfire – etc. They’re on you and not on your pet (for the most part, there are some clueless noobs in BGs – even in Eye of the Storm, bwahahaha! But you can’t count on too many of these).
You’re up against twinks now. Yes, there are twinks in the 29 bracket. They got some badass gear. They use shadow oil or frost oil even. They’re coming at you maxed-out and full-bore! This ain’t tee-ball no more, son. You’re in the … well, let’s not get crazy here. But you’re playin’ w/ the big boys now. Brace yourself.

Speaking of Occam’s Razor (at which I’m obviously bad), I LOL when I find attempts to define it which clearly don’t apply it — making said doubly cutting!
I kind of like this one: “one should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.”

Red Wings: 25 – 19 – 9O.K., so what am I missing here. I go into to the BG at lvl 29, take two, maybe three hits, and DIE!!! I see the damage points floating over my corpse at +300 or +400 per Wise Man is the Man who knows what he does not know, and is not afraid to admit it.

Imp Wing CLip is a talent. I hate it, I don’t like the idea of it working 20 of the time. I also wonder why you don’t have as once you get it you can permanently keep a mob CC’d (26-second trap with a 24-second cooldown). Last, while readiness is a great skill, you waste 5 points to get to it. If readiness didn’t require MT I’d get it in my build, but MT really is a small DPS increase.
(MT will activate approximately 1 in every 17 attacks, meaning that if you can get those in during a 24-second period, you get a 10 DPS increase for 33 of the time, or 3.3 DPS increase total. With an already high crit chance – assume 30, it’s actually less than that even – 2.6 approx. In comparison with Mortal Shots, where a 30 crit chance will warrant a 9 DPS increase.).
On my build I went for Imp Mark over Efficiency, but I’ll work with you on this, and for you I would go with this build, or this one if you must have imp wing clip (seeing as how entrapment will get nerfed next patch for PvP anyway). Keep up that and AotV, and you should never run out of mana. You’ll crit a lot and get great crits, and you’ll be able to trap like there’s no tomorrow, and on a more consistent basis than with readiness.
Last comment, regarding your agility statement, the 500 threshold is actually where EW = TSA, over 500 means EW will do more for your group. The 500 agility is really to out-DPS a marksman, not to be than one. With the improvements to traps and damage mitigation, survival is about more than just DPS, so even without 500 agi survival is good (I’m using it to level).

So first, here’s the build. My Build
Ok. So, keep in mind that for now I’m mostly doing solo work to 70. Haven’t gotten into a guild that can do the instances, raids, and what not for higher levels yet as I’m 1 of the 2 highest level people in the guild (the other being a troll hunter…lol.) However, once I do hit 58, I’m thinking of taking WoW to a new level and starting to Raid, Instance, PvP, or anything else that I might not know about.
I’m thinking of respeccing to this after I hit 70. Maybe respec to this when I hit 58 (1 more level) and can start going to Outland. But, I have heard that you don’t wanna deep survival without 500 agility. If so, then I would have to wait until after I hit 70 and do some stuff I don’t know about.
Anyways, was wondering what you guys thought. Not knowing what gear I’m gonna have (not quite understanding Azurac AEP stuff.) is why I have some talents like Effeciency. I could see that if I could get enough M/5 I wouldn’t need effeciency and such.
I know Imp Wing Clip is mostly for PvP but I’m really fond of Immobilization of any kind as it lets me run away really quickly if I need to.
So, bring on the criticism and laughs. However, if you are gonna take the time to comment, please explain your flamish response.
Thanx,
D

Get Hawkeye.
Wherever you decide to move talent points from to get this talent, get it. It is a must have for ANY hunter imo, but especially for a pvp hunter. In BG’s for that extra range when you stand to shoot off a cliff or are chasing down your enemy, an extra 6 yards is huge. In arena it will give you the edge in getting the shot off first against your opponent, and even baiting them by standing 41 yards away and arcane shotting them to pull them in. Some are even foolish enough to underestimate hunter range before they get 1k of their life taken out by a single instant shot.Cool…. I’ll consider trying that.-Kasgar –

You know, it’s a good question. I haven’t looked a TON into the elemental LWs, but I’ve noticed that some of the better dragonscale items also have +crit (for example, golden dragonstrike breastplate is +24 to crit I think? That’s what I was wearing until recently).
You do get some more +agi and +ap from leather items in some cases, and there’s certainly no real reason to wear decent mail over great leather items, but try to find a balance. You may have to take some hits here and there, and you don’t want to fold like a piece of paper if you take a hit.
There are plenty of great mail items out there, it’s just a matter of finding them. The best thing I can suggest is to start farming now with your guild (or friends) in instances that you need gear from so you’ll have it at 70. I waited UNTIL 70, and found that I really desperately needed to get decent gear before I started running Kara and some of the tougher 5-mans.

Hi All, Hit level 70 a sort time ago (Approx 3 weeks) and basically am in 2 minds on weather my current Talents are ??ny good” for instance running. Its only 5 man at the moment but its Comprises of 2x Bm Hunters, 1x Fire Mage, 2x Druids, One Tank/Healer.
2x Bm Hunters are 70
1x Fire Mage is 70
Healer Druid 70
Tank Druid 69 (Nearly 70 4/5 bars to go)
We are currently ok/good geared, im almost all blues, same as Mage. Other Hunter has decent amount of blues aswell as the 2x Druids.
But In Shadow Lab’s we killed the first boss and in the room to the left were there are only 3 to 5 mobs we struggled and wiped.
MY Freezing Traps lasted no more than 10 secs and same with the other hunters trap.
The Sheep lasting between 5 to 25 secs if lucky, Ive Spec BM/Sv and the other Hunter has Spec’d BM/MM.
Here is the Armoury for all 5 Char’s (Please note that some items have been changed since Armoury has been updated.)

2nd BM Hunter: Orangeaid:
Fire Mage: Arthog:

Obviously Im more of a group participant rather than an over sized wiener. I’d prefer to offer more to the group than out damage everyone and be smug about it. At The Moment, I out damage everyone, but I also help with longer traps, amateur pet control and not hughly quick reflexes. By this I mean, im not a fantastic hunter and im only learning at the moment. I want to become better and hopefully advise and experience will overcome this.
Also, I have a Cat, (Called MyMateDave) I’ve specc’d him all in NO Resistances, 2x Avoidance, Cobra Reflexes, Rank8/9 Claw and Bite, Dash rank 3 (80 Speed) and Armour and Stamina. (Will Get His Details up pretty soon, one I return from work). Has just over 6000 Health and just over 10,000 Armour. (Gonna be a smart ass now – 6009 Health, and 10,939 Armour 52 Reduction in damage)
The 2nd Hunter has a Scorpion as a pet which seems to last a bit longer than mine in fights, can only presume he has more defensive style pet rather than an all out offensive pet?
So my questions are how to improve my gear, hunter abilitys and my Play Style. Like I said, im not a fantastic hunter but I am willing to try with your help and guidance.
Many Thanks for all the advise

Wife got you down? Boss makin’ you angry? Kids yellin’ at you? Well, fudge ‘em

“Hell yeah!”
..even though I’m nowhere near to having to multitrap anything.
..and a minor to increased pet levelling speed.. I could never bear to get rid of the wolf I tamed at level 20, so I kept him current along with my other “leveling’ pet, and pulled him out for melee-heavy groups and instances. Was afriad I’d have to leave him behind now that I get hit in the face with a barrel of XP with every quest I finish.
edit can’t grammar right.

Edited, Nov 21st 2007 12:38pm by BangdeadI’m obviously very pleased by this. Not only do I appreciate that I’ll be able to double trap again, I appreciate that they made the decision and announced it before S3 begins. The day S3 goes live, I get a swanky new epic chest piece that’s got three gem sockets on it, and knowing before I get it whether I should be continuing the Agility trend or switching to AP is a definite bonus.
Blizz is full of win on this one.-I tink I made an angry poo-poo!
My ZAM Journal featuring my 2010 Custom PC Build BlogWell i guess im i have to say its been at least a month and a half since ive had to trap anything, so i really could care less. But ok never mind, im babbling.

I’m just a few bars shy of 70 and geared pretty well (at least, I think so, since I have a few pieces from Aethien’s list already). Granted I do still need some upgrades. As far as previous instance experiences, I’ve done pretty well, usually top 2 in damage (but not always DPS??) and my guild mates have come to appreciate and rely on my CC ability.
Last night a guild mate asks if I want to come along to Shadow Labs. I think to myself “why not? I’m almost 70, and do good DPS and CC, maybe Sonic will drop… can’t be that bad.” Needless to say, we failed… miserably.
Initial group was druid healer, druid tank, SV hunter (me, the only non-70), mage and warlock. For all except the mage, this was our first time in SL. The beginning was a little rough, just getting used to the larger sized pulls and learning the nuances of the mobs and 1st boss. We wiped once or twice, no big deal. Then we arrived at Grandmaster Vorpil…
We tried different strategies listed:
1.) I was on add patrol, but group couldn’t bring him down before adds started spawning like crazy… wipe.
2.) Mage helps me with add duty… wipe.
3.) Kite away from adds… wipe.
4.) All-out DPS… wipe.
Repeated the above way too many times, and eventually gave up.
My question, then, is was it me? Was I the weak link that just made it impossible to provide enough DPS (even though for most of the run I was 1st in damage)? Am I just not geared well enough to do the lvl 70 instances yet? What am I missing?
I don’t intend to turn this into a “check out my gear and tell me what to do post.” I know that there are needed upgrades and once i hit 70, I can at least purchase one or two of them.
Thank you for your

I’m sorry. But Petopi-what?To attack the cenarion rep, I’m guessing you had to set your relations with them to “at war” first. If this was the case and your friend was in a friendly state with them, the cenarion rep may have just run towards the shot, seen you (a person at war with them) and attacked.
If it wasn’t done already, try getting your friend to set his reputation with them as “at war” as well and see if it helps. Or you could just try casting misdirection on your and shoot an ordinary mob instead. If you’re just testing the skill, that would seem the obvious route. Sounds like you were trying to trick someone into being beaten to death by a cenarion rep.

I can’t get misdirection to work. I was trying it out on one my friends, so I invited my friend to a group, cast misdirection on my friend and used arcane shot on that centeron circle npc in Orgrimmar. Rather than the mob attacking my friend though, it attacked me.
Am I using misdirection wrong? Are there special conditions that have to be met to get it work?

Going to be saving for Legs and Chest first thing. Then I will look into what else I may need.
